Every stone tells me how to hold it. This piece of citrine quartz came covered in tiny cactus-quartz crystals — rough, clustered, catching light from every angle — and it told me to build around them, not smooth them over.
I hand-caged link by link, letting the chain follow the stone's own uneven edges instead of forcing it into shape. The woven silver settles into a shell in tension — flexible enough to hold the stone securely, architectural enough to stand as its own sculpture. No two cages come out the same, because no two stones do.
This is the MHART approach to a raw gemstone: never forced, never symmetrical by design. Just me, the stone, and the chain.
