This necklace combines the raw elegance of genuine black freshwater pearls with polished stainless steel and an oxidized sterling silver–plated Aztec coin pendant. Each pearl displays a rich natural luster, revealing hues of midnight, iridescent blue, and deep violet as it catches the light.

The pendant showcases the ancient Mesoamerican calendar—featuring the 365-day solar cycle, Xiuhpohualli, and the 260-day sacred cycle, Tonalpohualli. Interlocked, these two systems formed a 52-year century, guiding seasons, rituals, and celestial timekeeping for generations.

MHART is a New York–based jewelry brand handcrafted by designer Michael Hartney. Since 2010, every piece has been individually made by hand, using natural gemstones sourced from the earth and caged in finely-woven silver or gold chain — a design signature inspired by the geometry and strength of a spider web.
